Eggbutt Cheekpeice

The Eggbutt cheek piece prevents pinching of the lips and gives a solid feel against the side of the face. It also prevents the bit being pulled through the mouth. The release is slower than the loose ring and also introduces light poll pressure. Eggbutts, like loose rings are available in 2 sizes, standard and a slightly smaller model for a pony or a bridoon. This cheekpiece takes up rein pressure slightly quicker than a loose ring but releases it relatively slower. The net effect of this is that eggbutt can even out some inconsistencies in rein contact, and offer the horse a feeling of stability and comfort.

Many horses enjoy this feeling of stability, and it can also be helpful for novice or younger riders.
