Ported Barrel Mouthpiece

The ported barrel is a tongue relief version of the barrel type mouthpiece. Here the central barrel allows for a separation of reins aids, enabling a fine tuning of communication, whilst the design of the mouthpiece offers a similar type of tongue relief to the happy tongue. The limited movement of the barrel allows the port to adjust to fit a wide range of mouth configurations. The adjustable port allows the horse to manoeuvre pressures between its tongue & bars.

The ported barrel, like the barrel features ball and socket joints rather than links, and allows 360 degree rotation of the cannons. This makes the rein aids very independent and this has been known to help with horses that tend to lean on solid mouthpieces.
