Loose Ring Cheekpiece

The loose ring cheekpiece allows for immediate release and relief from tongue and bar pressure. The bit is immediately reset to a neutral position in the horse’s mouth when rein pressure is released. This cheekpiece takes up rein pressure slightly slower than an eggbutt but releases it relatively faster. The net effect of this is that a loose ring allows a horse to feel changes in rein contact very quickly, and offer the rider a way to reward a horse quickly.

Loose rings, like eggbutts are available in 2 sizes, standard and a slightly smaller model for a pony or a bridoon. Please contact us if you would like the smaller option, as all orders come with the regular size as standard..

Many horses are quite sensitive to this quick release action, and it can be helpful in setting up and releasing a horse, whilst others may not enjoy this nuanced action, and may prefer the stability of an eggbutt.
